  • Morgan's arrest could potentially affect her WWE career, but it is likely she will only face a suspension rather than more severe consequences.

Liv Morgan has been out of WWE since July with a shoulder injury, but now she's making headlines for all the wrong reasons, after she was arrested in Florida. According to the Villages-News, Morgan, whose real name is Gionna Daddio, was pulled over by law enforcement in a community called The Villages, outside of Orlando. The Villages-News reported:

"Daddio was driving a yellow Jeep at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday on County Road 476 when a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy noticed the vehicle crossed over the yellow and white lines on the roadway “several times,” according to an arrest report. When the deputy approached the Jeep, the odor of marijuana was detected."

Marijuana was found inside a small plastic bag in a pink fuzzy bag in the Jeep. The Sheriff's Department also located a vape pen with an oil-like substance that was sitting in the Jeep's center console. After a test, the substance tested positive for marijuana. According to the Villages-News:

"Daddio was arrested on charges of possession of synthetic cannabinoid, possession of marijuana and possession of drug equipment. She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $3,000 bond."

The New York Post reported that Liv Morgan's charge, with marijuana possession under 20 grams, is a first degree misdemeanor, while the possession of a synethic cannbinoid is a third-degree felony. Morgan's maximum sentence is a punishment of up to one year in jail and a fine of no more than $1,000. Under WWE's Substance and Drug Testing Policy, synthetic cannabinoids are not allowed for its talent, which means Morgan could be looking at a suspension as well.

What Will Liv Morgan's Arrest Do To Her WWE Career?

Liv Morgan had an up-and-down 2022 and 2023. She won the Women's Money in the Bank contract in 2022, then became the SmackDown Women's Champion after cashing in on Ronda Rousey. Her booking as a champion, however, left a lot to be desired. This January, she lasted for over an hour in the Women's Royal Rumble match, and was the last one thrown over the top rope by winner Rhea Ripley. She also became a Women's Tag Team Champion twice, but a shoulder injury in July derailed her momentum, causing her and champion Raquel Rodriguez to drop the titles. As of last month, there had been no timetable for Morgan's WWE comeback.

There was a time when marijuana possession could derail your WWE career. Just ask Rob Van Dam. Now, it's likely WWE will suspend Morgan and nothing more. Hopefully, Liv Morgan is back from injury soon. She has been with WWE since 2014, yet is still only 29-years-old. With WWE hotter than ever right now, the women's division could use another star in its fold. The Sportster will have updates in the future about any possible punishment, in and out of WWE, for Liv Morgan.
