WWE has hired female sportscaster Jackie Redmond, who will immediately join the Raw Talk and Talking Smack teams, plus be a co-host on The Bump with Matt Camp. For those that know Redmond's work, this is a smart hire.

A sportscaster with more than 10 years of experience, Redmond is a bit of an icon in the Canadian sports scene. A bit like Renne Young was before being added by WWE, Redmond got her start on the Score and then moved onto cover sports for other broadcasters, such as the NHL Network and Turner Sports. She previously spent six years as an anchor for Rogers Sportsnet in Canada, hosted a variety of studio programs, including Sportsnet Central and WWE Aftermath. In short, she is no stranger to hosting shows like Raw Talk and Talking Smack and knows the WWE product quite well.

Redmond said of her new position with WWE, "As someone who grew up on Stone Cold Stunners and Rock Bottoms, I cannot even begin to explain how excited I am to join WWE." She added, “There is nothing quite like the WWE Universe and I am so grateful for the opportunity to engage with the most passionate and dedicated fans in sports entertainment every week on Raw Talk and Talking Smack."

She also posted a tweet talking about the WWE Draft and noted she's extremely excited to chat about it this week. "Gotta love draft day," she said. She added, "Let’s freaking go!!!!"

Redmond Will Fit Right In

With her vast experience talking WWE knowledge, Redmond will be a natural and has the ability to be what Young was to WWE when she was hired. Don't be surprised if Redmond works her way up the ladder quickly and starts working pre-shows for pay-per-views and gets a bigger role as she proves she's quick-witted and a natural in the role WWE is asking her to take on.

It will be interesting to see if WWE has her change her name. They've often done this with talent hired for these positions in the past.
