WWE 2K23 Confirms Candice LeRae Will Be Free DLC

WWE 2K games getting post-launch DLC is commonplace, but players usually have to pay for those packs or own the deluxe edition of the game to get access to that additional content. While WWE 2K23 has those same packs rolling out over the course of the summer, 2K has deviated from its usual path slightly, adding a couple of Superstars to the game's roster free of charge.

Candice LeRae Will Be Free DLC

WWE 2K confirmed one of those Superstars will be Candice LeRae. The studio made the reveal on Twitter, including a clip of LeRae's in-game entrance so players can see what to expect when she's added to the game via the next patch. Still no word on exactly when that next patch will be applied, though it seems likely it'll be as soon as Wednesday since that's when the next paid DLC pack drops.

The reveal that LeRae will be added to WWE 2K23 for all players comes a few days after Mia Yim was confirmed to be getting the same treatment. Neither Yim nor LeRae were included in the game's base roster despite being under contract when 2K23 launched, presumably because they had left WWE but didn't re-sign until the final few months of 2022.

Will There Be More Free DLC?

That likely meant they missed the cut-off to be added to the game, but rather than leave them unplayable until WWE 2K24, 2K has decided to shake things up and keep 2K23's roster as up-to-date as possible. Something it appears to have been unwilling to do in the past. WWE reportedly requested Cody Rhodes be added to WWE 2K22 when he signed post-launch, but that didn't happen and Rhodes didn't rejoin the WWE video game world until 2K23.

Shortly after Yim's addition was confirmed, a 2K developer revealed there will be more Superstars added to the roster free of charge. It's not clear whether they were simply referring to LeRae whose arrival hadn't been reported yet, or if there are still more new Superstars to come. At the very least there is a lot more paid DLC on the horizon with the Pretty Sweet pack dropping tomorrow.
