John Cena wrestled Solo Sikoa at WWE Crown Jewel in a grudge match. The WWE Universe in Saudi Arabia filled the stadium to capacity. The crowd was white-hot, both anxious and excited about the lineup WWE had to offer for Crown Jewel. Cena had been feuding with The Bloodline since his return to WWE a couple of months ago alongside LA Knight. On this night, Cena was expected to give Solo Sikoa everything he had in the tank. While the former 16-time WWE Champion is no longer a spring chicken inside the ring, he could still light up the crowd and put on a decent matchup. What happened at Crown Jewel left wrestling fans across the world and social media in shock.
John Cena Was Destroyed By Solo Sikoa At Crown Jewel
John Cena went into this match with momentum at his side. Solo Sikoa had everything to gain and little opportunity to lose any ground, especially if he were to be humiliated and humbled by the leader of the “Cenation”. While this was a simple grudge match pitting WWE’s past megastar versus a brute, up-and-comer who is hungry to break out of the shadow of “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns, to show the world he is more than just Reigns’ muscle.

Solo Sikoa sent a statement that was heard loud and crystal clear at Crown Jewel. Not only did Sikoa defeat John Cena, but he brutalized him from pillar to post. Cena pulled out a few tricks up his sleeve, such as executing a chokeslam on Sikoa and attempted to deliver his infamous “Five Moves of Doom," which that was met with Sikoa countering the Attitude Adjustment into a Samoan Drop.
Cena gave it everything he had, but on this night, it was clearly not enough. Sikoa took Cena down with the Samoan Spike and picked up the victory. Not only did he hit just one Samoan Spike, but a multitude of them before Cena was put down for the three count. In truth, this was the first time that Cena was single handily dominated in a match since his SummerSlam 2013 encounter with Brock Lesnar.
What This Means For Solo Sikoa’s WWE Future
A victory over John Cena, especially on a big stage like Crown Jewel in front of thousands of fans overseas, is a huge deal for Solo Sikoa. Sikoa has a bright future ahead of him, much like Jimmy and Jey Uso respectively. Each of those men have the potential to become a future WWE World Heavyweight or Undisputed Universal Champion someday.
Sikoa could be seen as the guy that is groomed to be the future Undisputed Universal Champion by Roman Reigns. Going back to 2005, when Triple H was on top of the world as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, “The Game” made a young Dave Batista a megastar by grooming him (and Randy Orton, in 2004) to be the future of WWE.

Perhaps someday Sikoa will get his showdown with Roman Reigns for the Undisputed Universal Championship… or at least be given the opportunity to take the “Tribal Chief” down if the time is right to completely severe The Bloodline for good.
Could This Be The End Of John Cena In WWE?
For John Cena, this could very well be the beginning of the end for our former 16-time WWE Champion. He’s in his mid-40s, wrestling part-time, and is beginning to slow his wrestling career down. As evident by his run in Hollywood and starring in shows like Wipeout on TBS, and The Peacemaker on MAX, Cena has an alternative career set in stone for him once his in-ring days with WWE are over.
While he can still perform well in the ring and has become this big “special attraction” for the company, he is no longer in the full-time status like before and the chances of him becoming a 17-time WWE Champion is realistically a long shot, but not totally out of the question either.
What would be the end game for John Cena? While Cena did tease a retirement a few weeks ago on SmackDown, he reiterated that he isn’t done yet by a long shot. However, will this devastating loss at Crown Jewel be a wakeup call to Cena? The seeds may have been planted for John Cena to begin the stages of winding down his wrestling career and culminating his career with one final match sometime in 2024. Perhaps it will be WrestleMania 40, or another event, such as Summer Slam 2024. Who his final opponent would be is a question that will be answered in due time.

Knowing how Cena loves WWE and has given back to the business in recent years by putting over younger talent rather than himself, you can bet that he will be doing the honors while riding off into the sunset and putting over who he (and WWE) feels could be the next megastar. Cena’s time is almost up, but whose time is it now?
