WWE had plans for a Nexus reunion over this year's WrestleMania weekend prior to the pandemic, but Stu Bennett aka Wade Barrett says he turned their offer.

Appearing on the The Wrestling Inc. Daily podcast, Bennett confirmed there was interest from the company in his involvement.

"I was called in January or February, before this whole pandemic broke out, by the talent relations team in WWE about something they wanted to do to coincide with the 10th anniversary of Nexus," he explained. "I actually turned it down. I didn't like the offer or the plan."

It's unclear exactly what WWE had in mind, but last month fellow Nexus member Darren Young said it likely would have involved an appearance at Axxess or some kind of Network special. Whatever the case, Barrett wasn't into it.

"In all honesty, if it had been something more significant, I would have paid it more attention. But it was something, to me, that I wasn't interested in doing," he said. "There was no benefit at all, for me, in doing it and I wasn't excited about it, so I turned the offer down."

The official 10th anniversary of Barrett, Young and the rest of Nexus storming Raw was June 7th.
