AEW has reportedly fired a member of its Spanish language announce team in the wake of his racist impersonation of Japanese wrestler Hikaru Shida on the most recent edition of Dynamite.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, commentator Willie Urbina was released by AEW on Saturday.

The incident in question occurred on the May 28 episode of Dynamite on TNT. Urbina -- who was part of a four-person Spanish announce team along with Alex Abrahantes, Dasha Kuret, and in-ring competitor Thunder Rosa -- mocked the accent of AEW Women's Champion Hikaru Shida during the segment in which her year-long reign as champ was being commemorated.

Urbina was encouraged to impersonate Shida by Abrahantes, and was subsequently chastised by Rosa and Kuret. The group was seemingly unaware that their mics were still active, and the audio was only picked up via Fite TV's coverage.

Urbina has previously worked for New Japan Pro Wrestling and IMPACT Wrestling.

In case you missed it, Hikaru Shida's reign as AEW's Women's Champion was honored on the special Friday edition of Dynamite. She was presented with a newly-minted AEW Women's Championship belt by broadcaster Tony Schiavone. Following the segment, Shida took to social media to thank fans. The Japanese wrestler also mentioned that the segment marked her very first time cutting a promo in the ring.

Shida will defend her AEW Women's Championship against the number-one ranked Britt Baker at Double Or Nothing on Sunday, May 30. The result seems like a forgone conclusion with Shida's reign stagnating, and Baker being one of the most consistently entertaining performers in the industry.

Shida became champion at last year's Double Or Nothing when she defeated "The Native Beast" Nyla Rose.
