Randy Savage was a wrestling icon who oozed charisma. Macho Man's was a tournament specialist in his first batch of matches on a WWE pay-per-view.

Arguably, Randy Savage was the second biggest star in WWE after Hulk Hogan in the late '80s and early '90s. Macho Man portrayed an outstanding heel, and he was universally loved when he was a babyface as well. Savage is a two-time WWE Champion and a one-time Intercontinental Champion, but he made both titles feel relevant.

However, Savage's first 10 matches on PPV were a mixture of brilliance, and some were incredibly lackluster. Savage competed in a couple of tournaments during this time frame, therefore several matches were abrupt. Macho Man still managed to deliver some epics, which is a testament to his greatness.

10 Randy Savage Vs. One Man Gang - WrestleMania IV

Randy Savage was the MVP of the WWE Championship tournament at WrestleMania IV. Macho Man was edging one step closer to attaining his goal of winning his first WWE Title. In the semifinals, Savage collided with One Man Gang.

Unfortunately, this was a lackluster semifinal match and One Man Gang had Slick in his corner. It was a slow methodical match and Savage had little offense in this encounter. Ultimately, Savage reached the final after One Man Gang hit Savage with Slick's cane and got himself intentionally disqualified, which made little sense.

9 Randy Savage Vs. Ivan Putski - The Wrestling Classic

The second pay-per-view produced by WWE was The Wrestling Classic, and a 16-man tournament was held in one night. Savage collided with Ivan Putski in the first round, and Savage spat in Putski's face which was disgusting, and Putski retaliated by doing the same thing.

It was an underwhelming contest, which lasted a shade under three minutes. Putski was in cruise control but Macho Man prevailed by pulling Putski down, and he put his feet on the ropes for leverage to progress into the tournament.

8 Randy Savage Vs. Butch Reed - WrestleMania IV

Savage kickstarted his journey to clinching his maiden WWE Championship at WrestleMania IV by clashing with Butch Reed in the first round. The Natural dominated the early exchanging by keeping Savage at arm's length.

However, Macho Man recovered in style and the pendulum swung in his favor. It wasn't the greatest opener but advancing to the next round was the most important thing for Savage as he kept Reed down with his patented Elbow drop from the top rope.

7 Randy Savage Vs. George Steele - WrestleMania 2

WrestleMania 2 was notorious for being held in three different locations, and Randy Savage made his WrestleMania debut as one of the main performers. Macho Man defended the Intercontinental Championship against the unpredictable George "The Animal" Steele.

Steele had an affection towards Miss. Elizabeth, and it made Savage irate as he was annoyed if anyone went near her. Nevertheless, Steele showed his fighting spirit by kicking out of Savage's top rope elbow but Savage was not to be denied at his maiden WrestleMania and kept the Intercontinental Title in his possession.

6 Randy Savage Vs. Dynamite Kid - The Wrestling Classic

Randy Savage and Dynamite Kid met in the semifinals of the 16-man tournament at The Wrestling Classic. This was arguably the best match of the night with Savage and Kid putting on a magnificent contest.

They both thought alike as they went for a clothesline and took each other down. Moreover, Dynamite Kid looked as though he was closing in on a victory with a top rope suplex but Savage prevailed by catching Kid in a small package, progressing through to the final.

5 Randy Savage Vs. Junkyard Dog - The Wrestling Classic

The final of the 16-man tournament at The Wrestling Classic saw Randy Savage and Junkyard Dog collide. JYD was incredibly popular with the fans and they were backing him all the way when he dominated Savage with some power moves to keep him down.

However, Macho Man took JYD to the outside area and he nailed him with a couple of double axe handles from the top rope. Ultimately, Savage failed to win the tournament as JYD scooped Savage over the top rope, and he prevailed via count out

4 Randy Savage Vs. Ricky Steamboat - The Wrestling Classic

Before Randy Savage and Ricky Steamboat had their legendary battle at WrestleMania III, they were quarterfinal opponents in the tournament held at The Wrestling Classic. Savage as the cunning heel that he is, he put Miss. Elizabeth in front of him to shield himself from The Dragon.

Savage was smart, and he attacked Steamboat when he was off guard. The action went back and forth, and Steamboat gained the upper hand in this enthralling match. However, Savage had to resort to cheating by using a pair of brass knuckles to Steamboat's head to win this match.

3 Randy Savage Vs. Greg Valentine - WrestleMania IV

Two former Intercontinental Champions in Randy Savage and Greg "The Hammer" Valentine had their eyes set on the WWE Championship. They faced off in the quarterfinals in the tournament to crown a new WWE Champion at WrestleMania IV.

This was a hard-hitting match as expected, and the pair had magnificent chemistry together. The Hammer was going for the Figure Four Leglock but Savage ensured his quest to capture the WWE Championship continued when he beat Valentine with a small package.

The inaugural Survivor Series took place in 1987, and Randy Savage was involved in the very first match of the night. Savage teamed up with his former rival Ricky Steamboat, Jake Roberts, Brutus Beefcake, and Jim Duggan. The babyface worked well together, and this was a superb contest.

Savage's team was extremely dominant, and Macho Man only registered one elimination by taking out Hercules with his patented top rope elbow drop. The reigning Intercontinental Champion, The Honky Tonk Man was on his lonesome, he decided that he had enough and resorted to going back to the locker room.

Hulk Hogan and Andre The Giant's WWE Championship match at WrestleMania III may have been the marquee match of the night, but it certainly was not the show-stealer. Macho Man Randy Savage put his Intercontinental Title on the line against Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat.

This was an instant classic and both men showed how great they are in the ring. The fans were captivated by this match and were heavily invested right from the get-go. Ultimately, Savage's year-long stranglehold on the Intercontinental Championship was finally over with Steamboat capturing the IC Title.
