Nikki Bella has confirmed her preparation for an in-ring return is underway, highlighting that she and Brie want to become Tag Team Champions.

The Bella Twins have been teasing a return to WWE for quite a while at this point. That's despite them previously stating that they were retired from in-ring competition. In defense of Nikki and Brie, the word retire doesn't really hold much meaning in wrestling. Nikki has now gone one step further and revealed she has started preparation for that much talked about wrestling return.

Nikki made the confession during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. "I’m definitely starting that preparation. I want to train hard for it," Nikki said. The former Divas Champion added that she will also be wrestling a different style when she returns. That's not anything Nikki is any stranger to after adapting her style to better fit in following the women's revolution in WWE.

Brie also took part in the interview and even though she didn't explicitly say she is also preparing to return, it was implied the pair will be tandem when they come back to WWE. "The one thing is that WWE brought the Women’s Tag Team Titles in. We were like, ‘Wait a second, how do the Bellas not have this on the résumé?'," Brie said.

It does feel as if the Women's Tag Team Titles were effectively created for The Bellas. However, the first Women's Tag Team Champions weren't crowned until after they had wrestled their final matches. Both women would hang it up in October 2018 with the titles being introduced just four months later. Those two milestones are so close together that the titles must have been discussed before the Bellas decided to depart.

Odds are word of Tag Team Titles being introduced wouldn't have stopped the Bellas from leaving. Both have had children since departing. Nikki her first and Brie her second. They have started and grown their respective families, and like many other wrestlers to have come before them, they now want to show those new members of their families what they do best.
