Apparently, if it weren't for the demands of the WWE Universe, Michelle McCool never would have been in this year's Royal Rumble. It was just a couple of weeks ago that WWE fans started reaching out to McCool and saying they'd like to see her in the Rumble. She responded on January 16 with comments like, "Take it up with WWE." They must have because just a few days later, WWE got inundated with so many requests, they called and asked McCool to take part. McCool shared that detail with her fans and thanked them for making her entry into the 2023 Royal Rumble a possibility. She noted, “Real talk….thank YOU @WWEUniverse !Y’all legit did this and I love you for it! I’ve never felt so loved Because of y’alls messages to @wwe & @TripleH the last 2 weeks, I got the call…9 days before the Rumble(I wasn’t lying when I told y’all I hadn’t gotten the call yet).”
McCool was sitting ringside with her kids during the event. That might have foreshadowed her being involved, but it wasn't until her music hit and her name announced that she jumped the rail and made her way into the match. She actually fared fairly well, eliminating Tamina and lasting 13 minutes before she was removed by Rhea Ripley, the eventual 30-Woman Royal Rumble winner.
Triple H Listens To The Fans
Not only was this a cool moment for McCool, but it shows that Triple H actually listens to the fans. Their desire and quest to get her into the Rumble worked. It's not clear whose spot she took, if anyone, but the fact that WWE made the pivot just days before the event means they were open to the idea of shifting gears and giving the audience a voice.
