The Raw after WrestleMania is traditionally the time for big NXT call-ups and main roster returns. This past Raw was a bit of a disappointment on that front, except for one big comeback. During a Miz TV segment, The Miz threw a fit about the number of surprise matches he was put into over the WrestleMania 39 weekend. He promised that there'd be no more surprises. Cue Matt Riddle's music. One half of RKBro came out on his scooter to a thunderous ovation. Riddle entered the ring and took the mic, asking the crowd if they had missed him. It was then that The Miz went for a cheap shot attack, but Riddle countered, fighting back with a Ripcord Knee and Bro Derek finisher on the former WWE Champion. Can Matt Riddle Regain His Spot In WWE?
There was a time last year when Matt Riddle was on top of the WWE world due to his highly popular work with Randy Orton. The odd pairing found great chemistry and became fan favorites as the RKBro tag team. They became tag team champions, and there was talk of the two working a feud together eventually, but then Orton went down with an injury. Riddle's spot on the card sank as a singles competitor before aligning himself briefly with Elias.
On the December 5th Raw, Riddle was attacked by Solo Sikoa and taken out on a stretcher. It was announced that he'd be out for about six weeks with a kayfabe injury, but in reality Riddle was taking time off from WWE. A few different reasons were given for this, from a reported drug test failure that led to mandatory rehab, to Riddle mentally needing to take time away after a highly publicized divorce.
Whatever the reasons for his hiatus, it's great to see Matt Riddle back. With reports of Randy Orton returning to WWE soon as well, hopefully we can see RKBro together again.
