Former WWE star Lio Rush has said that his time spent touring as Bobby Lashley's mouthpiece actually cost him money.

The former Cruiserweight Champion was a guest on the Talk Is Jericho podcast when he shared the shocking news that travelling around for Vince McMahon's company as Bobby Lashley's side-kick was actually hurting his financial situation .

“I remember being on the road with Bobby [Lashley] and at the time Bobby was the Intercontinental Champion. He was all over the place. He was at all the signings and meet-n-greets, all the live shows and everything. I wasn't making the money that Bobby was making," he said. ( h/t Sportskeeda )

“I remember being on a tour in Canada. And remember looking at my bank account. I say I can't do it anymore. It doesn't make any sense. I'm losing money. I just can't afford to do this anymore. Because I've kids, I have a wife and I've responsibilities."

At the time Lio Rush was shining in his role as Bobby Lashley's 'Hype Man' as he was also able to showcase his athletic abilities and help get the dominant Lashley wins. So the news that he wasn't getting paid enough to do it is certainly surprising.

Lio Rush Says He Begged Vince McMahon To Help

Lio Rush is now with AEW but prior to that the talented wrestler said that he tried to speak to Vince McMahon and ask for a payrise or a more meaningful role on the main roster that would come with more money, but couldn't get any of the Chairman's time for nine months.

He was eventually made Cruiserweight Champion before his release but he claims that even being a champion in the company didn't make much of a difference.

After losing the Cruiserweight Title to Angel Garza in December 2019 and failed to recapture it in a match in February 2020 before he was released from the company in April the same year.
