19 Kids and Counting and Counting On fans aren't surprised that many of Josh Duggar's siblings don't exactly sympathize with his plight.
Josh Duggar from Counting On is in deep trouble, and he won't have many of his 19 siblings to lean on when he goes to jail. He was convicted on child pornography charges and sentenced to 12 years behind bars. Many of the star's famous siblings feel that their brother got what he deserved.
Back in December of 2021, Josh was found guilty of possessing child pornography by a jury of his peers. Viewers were happy to learn that Josh would be punished for his crimes with a sentence of 151 months behind bars. Out of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's 19 children, Josh has been in the tabloids multiple times. Back in 2015, Josh allegedly molested five 14 to 15-year-old girls in 2002 and 2003. It was later revealed that two of the girls were his sisters, Jessa and Jill Duggar. At the time, Jim Bob tried his best to cover up the incident by sending Josh to Christian-based therapy, instead of calling the police.
On Wednesday, March 25, the former TLC star was sentenced to 12 years in jail, but that was a lesser sentence, as he could have gotten up to 20 years. Josh has had little support from his family, as only Jim Bob and Josh's wife Anna Duggar have really stayed by his side during the trial. Many of the Duggar children have been candid regarding their feelings about their disgraced brother. Jason Duggar revealed in a statement that he grieves over the choices his brother made, but felt the sentence was fair. His sister Jill (who was one of his victims) stated on her Dillard Family website that Josh had yet to be held accountable until the sentencing. She hopes a decade in prison will give Josh the potential for rehabilitation.
Amy Duggar, Josh's cousin, has been the most outspoken, feeling that he deserved the maximum penalty. She told the judge not to be tricked by the character references her cousins had written on Josh's behalf. Amy shared on Twitter that Josh's sickness "stems from somewhere," noting that eventually he will reveal his true trauma. Amy never held back her opinions of Josh, often calling him a monster, and wanting the judge to lock him up and throw away the key.
Before the trial, Josh's legal team hoped for a five-year sentence. One possession of child pornography charge was dismissed without prejudice. After Josh does his time, the former Counting On star will have 20 years of supervised probation. Currently, Josh is being held in a Washington County jail, awaiting transfer to a federal correctional facility.
