For August 2023 Trainers can face off against the three Team GO Rocket leaders in Pokémon GO including Cliff. Team GO Rocket Leader Cliff's Team hasn't changed since July 2023, so Trainers who overcame him last month should receive no surprises. However, his line-up could change later in the month, if new events are added into Pokémon GO.

Of all the members of Team GO Rocket, Cliff arguably has the toughest line-up to defeat, making it even more important the right Pokémon are selected to take him down. Cliff, alongside Arlo and Sierra, need to be defeated for Trainers to take on Boss Giovanni in Pokémon GO this August. Cliff's Pokémon will all be Shadow variants once again, and after defeating him Trainers will have the opportunity to catch one of them.

In recent months in Pokémon GO Cliff has reverted to leading with Generation One Rock- and Flying-type Aerodactyl. He then chooses from three Pokémon for his second and third options. His second Pokémon will be either Water- and Psychic-type Slowking, Psychic- and Flying-type Gallade, or Rock- and Grass-type Cradily.

Cliff's final Pokémon for August will be one of Ghost-type Dusknoir, Ice- and Ground-type Mamoswine, or Rock- and Dark- Tyranitar. With a wide range of types covered by Cliff's final Pokémon, it can be advised to switch up line-ups depending on which option he chooses.

The Best Counters For Cliff In Pokémon GO August 2023

Cliff's first Pokémon will always be Aerodactyl, so players should opt for a Pokémon with an attack that is super-effective against it such as an Electric, Rock, Steel, Ice, or Water-type move.

Electric- and Steel-type Magnezone is a great first choice, as it can have attacks that are super-effective against Aerodactyl, as well as Slowking, Cradily, Tyranitar and Mamoswine.

In addition to Magnezone, a Fighting-type such as Machamp or Lucario is essential for Trainers to defeat Cliff. Cradily, Tyranitar, and Mamoswine are all weak to Fighting-type attacks. For a final choice to help take down Cliff this month in Pokémon GO, players have a few options, such as a Dark-type, or a Fairy-type, but going with a Ghost-type such as Gengar can cover his remaining Pokémon. Gengar is super-effective against both Gallade and Dusknoir, who only have a couple of weaknesses each.

Cliff's line-up for August is one of the strongest we have seen from the Leader in Pokémon GO making it vital that Trainers select the right counters.
