Throughout WWE history there haven't been too many powerhouse women's wrestlers who bring legitimate strength, power, and intimidation. However, right now Rhea Ripley is doing exactly that and she has proven herself to be one of the most exciting wrestlers in the company at the moment.

She is following a path that was set by Chyna who broke barriers during her time in the industry, and it has led to obvious comparisons between the two. Some aspects of their work are incredibly similar, but that isn't the case with every aspect of wrestling as there are certainly differences as well.
10 The Same: Physiques
The most obvious way that Rhea Ripley and Chyna are similar is their physiques as they are two of the most jacked female wrestlers that the company has ever had. Both of them bring a great presence because of their size and muscular build, which allows them to be taken far more seriously than most.
They stand out in comparison to the rest of the roster and that is a positive situation for them both. The physiques that they both have has stood them in good stead and have allowed them to thrive throughout their careers.
9 Different: Gimmicks
While they might look the same in terms of their physique, one way they cannot be compared is the gimmicks that they portray. While each of them has gone through a variety of characters, Rhea Ripley brings a much darker presence with her no matter what she does.

That is in line with the type of person that she is in real life which is why she can portray the character so well. However, Chyna never pushed down that path no matter how serious she would be inside the ring.
8 The Same: Romantic Work
Fans typically remember Chyna as a hard-hitting wrestler who took no nonsense, but she showcased a lot of personality during her storyline with Eddie Guerrero which was a romantic angle. It was a very different angle for her at the time, but it allowed her to thrive with a new side of herself.
That is a similarity that she has with Rhea Ripley because the current WWE star is now doing the same with Dominik Mysterio. While they aren't an official on-screen couple they have hints of flirting that have allowed her to develop as well.
7 Different: Bodyguard Work
For a long time in Chyna's career, she was pushed as a bodyguard, with this being the role that allowed her introduction to begin. It got fans talking about her because she was such a commanding presence, but Chyna wasn't the focal point for this period.
This is where she and Rhea Ripley differ because Mami has never been involved in a spot like that. She might have been on the outside of the ring for certain matches, but she has never been a specific bodyguard.
6 The Same: Getting To Work Against Men
In WWE it is rare for female talent to get the chance to wrestle against men in any capacity, whether it's an official match or just for a one-off segment. However, Chyna and Rhea Ripley are exceptions to that rule, because they've both been booked to look dominant at times against male talent.
Fans have bought into both of them being able to mix it up with them as well because of the physical style that they present. Seeing the two of them shown in this light is something fresh for women's wrestling generally in WWE and is a reason audiences are so fond of both of them.
5 Different: Working To The Main Roster
A big difference between the women is the journeys that they took to the main roster of WWE as Chyna was brought in immediately as a bodyguard and was then part of D-Generation X. This was incredibly early in her career as she only had a few matches on the independent scene before getting signed by WWE.

That is very different from Rhea Ripley's journey as she had to fight on the independent scene to earn her contract, and then after that point, she competed on NXT UK and NXT before getting her call-up to prove herself on the main roster.
4 The Same: In-Ring Style
The in-ring style of the two women is also similar as they are powerhouses in the ring that get to dominate pretty much everybody that they come up against due to their strength advantage. They tend to be bases for smaller talents as well which allows others to shine during matches.
Their similar approaches to wrestling have led to fans drawing comparisons between the two, and that is something that is always going to be the case throughout Ripley's time in wrestling.
3 Different: Match Quality
While they might have similar styles, when it comes to their match quality there is no denying that Rhea Ripley is on a different level. The Judgment Day star is a fantastic worker who can work against a variety of styles and always puts on fantastic matches, especially when she's given a lot of time.
While Chyna was a big star in her time, her match quality was nowhere near as high as Ripley's, nor was it as good as other female talent around during her own era. She's not remembered for her matches though, which is going to be different for Ripley when her career is wrapped up.

Since Rhea Ripley joined The Judgment Day there has been another obvious comparison between Chyna and Rhea Ripley which is the fact they've both been involved in major wrestling factions. Ripley has helped Judgment Day reach new heights as she is taken so seriously.

That is an impact that Chyna had on D-Generation X as well, her presence was something different from everyone else in the group and she ensured that they stood out as much as possible.
1 Different: Promo Quality
While Chyna could talk, the overall promo quality that both of them can deliver is a big difference between them. Chyna isn't someone who is best remembered for her ability to talk, and while she could cut promos it wasn't her main strength.
On the other hand, Rhea Ripley is a confident talker and someone who has no problem putting together memorable promos that would entertain audiences. It is a strength of hers and that is something that has allowed her to stand out.
