"Macho Man" Randy Savage's wrestling career was extraordinary. Savage was successful in both WWE and WCW. Savage won the WWE Championship twice and held the Intercontinental Championship for over 400 days. He also won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship four times. Nevertheless, Savage was booked strongly during his time in both WWE and WCW.

Savage moving to WCW from WWE was a surprising move but he was being shifted into a commentary position in WWE and he was not ready to hang up his boots. Moreover, Savage featured in several marquee matches, and whilst he triumphed in a lot of high-profile pay-per-view matches, he also fell short in some singles matches on pay-per-view.

11 The Junkyard Dog

Randy Savage competed in a tournament at The Wrestling Classic in November 1985, and it was WWE's second pay-per-view after the inaugural WrestleMania. Nevertheless, Savage defeated the likes of Ivan Putski, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, and the Dynamite Kid to reach the final.

Savage contested with JYD in the final, and they collided for nine minutes. It was a decent encounter between the pair but JYD was the tournament win after he defeated Macho Man by count out.

10 Ricky Steamboat

Randy Savage is one of the greatest Intercontinental Champions of all time, and he held the workhorse title for 413 days. Savage defended the prestigious title against Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat in one of the greatest Intercontinental Championship matches in history at WrestleMania 3.

Everyone talks about Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant's encounter at this Mania but Savage and Steamboat stole the show. This was wrestling at its finest, and Steamboat brought the curtain down on Macho Man's Intercontinental Championship reign.

9 The Ultimate Warrior

The Ultimate Warrior wasn't a good in-ring performer but "Macho Man" Randy Savage managed to bring out the best in Warrior. Their retirement match at WrestleMania 7 was fantastic, which Warrior won but it created a tear-jerking moment as Savage reunited with Miss. Elizabeth.

17 months later, the pair clashed over the WWE Championship at SummerSlam 1992. Unquestionably, they would have closed out the show if it wasn't for Bret Hart and The British Bulldog's Intercontinental Championship which took place at Wembley Stadium in London, England. Warrior defeated Savage again albeit by disqualification caused by Mr. Perfect and Ric Flair.

8 Ric Flair

The rivalry between "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Ric Flair began in WWE with the pair trading the WWE Championship in 1992. However, their feud didn't stop there as they reignited their rivalry in WCW. Flair defeated Savage in the main event of The Great American Bash 1995 in a competitive wrestling match.

They also headlined Starrcade 1995 with Flair defeating Savage for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Naitch had the feud in their favor, and he beat Macho Man for a third time on a WCW pay-per-view at SuperBrawl 6 to reclaim the Big Gold Belt in a steel cage match.

7 Hulk Hogan

The Mega Powers imploded which led to Randy Savage defending the WWE Championship against Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 5. Savage should have gone over here, but it was obvious that the Hulkster was going to recapture the WWE Championship.

Savage and Hogan reunited in WCW, but they were also on opposing sides. They battled over the WCW World Heavyweight Championship at Halloween Havoc 1996, and all thanks to outside interference from The Giant, Hogan retained his championship.

6 Diamond Dallas Page

Diamond Dallas Page benefited from his feud with Randy Savage as DDP went on to become a major star in WCW. At Spring Stampede 1997, they main evented the show, and it was a good match but nothing special which they would top in subsequent matches.

Macho Man connected with his trademark elbow drop but there was no referee present to count to three. Nonetheless, DDP picked up a huge win over the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion with his Diamond Cutter out of nowhere.

5 The Giant

"Macho Man" Randy Savage was in action against The Giant at Fall Brawl 1996. Savage had things under control under the nWo interfered. Savage laid his eyes on Hulk Hogan, but Scott Hall and Kevin Nash took care of him.

Once again Savage and The Giant went head-to-head at Road Wild 1997. It wasn't the greatest of matches between the pair. Savage connected with a crossbody, and he attempted it again but The Giant chokeslammed him to earn another win over Savage.

4 Lex Luger

Lex Luger was one of Randy Savage's first major rivals in WCW. The Total Package and Macho Man traded victories. Luger defeated Savage at World War 3 in November 1995 with the Torture Rack. However, Savage had the last laugh that night as he won the 60-man World War 3 match to become WCW World Heavyweight Champion.

Savage and Luger would revisit their feud in late 1997-early 1998. The Total Package defeated Savage in two pay-per-views in succession at Souled Out and SuperBrawl 8.

3 Bret Hart

"Rowdy" Roddy Piper was the special guest referee in Randy Savage's collision course with Bret Hart at Slamboree 1998. Hart worked on Savage's injured knee throughout the match, and it certainly paid off.

Macho Man had a lot of pain to contend with, and he couldn't finish off Hart with his patented elbow drop. The match was a quality wrestling match with Savage doing a great job of selling, but the Excellence of Execution prevailed by disqualification.

2 Roddy Piper

Randy Savage and Roddy Piper pulled double duty at The Great American Bash 1998. They were tag team partners against Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan in a losing effort. Immediately afterward Savage and Piper clashed in one-on-one action.

Piper didn't want to fight Savage who was in a bad state. This match was lackluster, and Savage was no match for Piper who put him out of his misery with a Figure Four leglock to prevail in under two minutes.

1 Kevin Nash

Randy Savage was looking to reclaim the WCW World Heavyweight Championship from Kevin Nash at The Great American Bash 1999. Savage had the upper hand as Big Sexy had injured ribs but Savage connected with his trademark elbow drop early on.

Nash had a lot to contend with in this title defense with outside interference. Nonetheless, Savage failed to recapture the WCW World Heavyweight Championship as Sid interfered and he booted Nash in the head with Big Sexy retaining by disqualification.
