Batista is a legend of sports entertainment, he has been one of the most dominant wrestlers in WWE history, a great babyface and a perfect world champion, and for a couple of years he was practically unbeatable.

The Animal won the vast majority of his matches, especially the singles matches, as there were few wrestlers who could stand up to Batista one-on-one. On PPV, Batista had a singles record of 26 wins, 14 losses and two draws, but only seven men were able to defeat him. Below we take a look at every wrestler who defeated Batista in a singles PPV match.

7 John Bradshaw Layfield

Batista v JBL The Great American Bash 2005 Cropped

Batista took the World Heavyweight Title from Triple H, and successfully defended the title against him twice to gain huge momentum. Then, in the main event of The Great American Bash 2005, Batista faced off against John Bradshaw Layfield.

It was a boring match with a 19-minute duration, but it felt very long due to the slow pace. The ending was cheap, as Batista grabbed a chair and hit JBL in the head, obviously causing a disqualification and setting up a rematch, which Batista would win.

6 Mr. Kennedy

Mr. Kennedy

Curiously, Batista also lost in the next edition of The Great American Bash, also by disqualification, but this time it was against Mr. Kennedy. It was a hard-hitting match, very intense from start to finish, it was a violent and bloody brawl, in which both men looked like beasts.

Batista was fired up, and mercilessly attacked Kennedy against the turnbuckle, putting his foot on Kennedy's throat until he was disqualified. This was a very questionable booking decision, which frankly ruined the match. It was a disqualification victory, but still Mr. Kennedy can say that he defeated Batista in a singles PPV match.

5 Triple H

Triple H v Batista WrestleMania 35 Cropped

Batista won his first three matches against Triple H, even defeating him for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 21. It took 14 years for Batista and Triple H to face each other again on PPV, at WrestleMania 35. It was a pretty entertaining No Holds Barred match, better than expected considering both men were well past their primes.

The match was perhaps too long, if it had been about 10 minutes shorter it would have been much better. The Game and The Animal relived moments from the past and brought nostalgia to the fans. In the end Triple H got his revenge after hitting Batista with a sledgehammer, followed by a devastating Pedigree. That was probably the last match in Batista’s career.

4 Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels vs Batista

Shawn Michaels was the first wrestler to defeat Batista in a singles PPV match. Batista came into Armageddon 2003 with 14 singles matches without being pinned, but the Heartbreak Kid didn't care about that. Michaels and Batista collided in a grudge match, which was excellent.

The young Batista looked great, and credit to Michaels, who sold Batista's attacks perfectly. However, despite looking good, Batista wasn't good enough to defeat Shawn Michaels. Years later, at Backlash 2008, Shawn Michaels defeated Batista again, this time Chris Jericho was the special referee. This was a great match, with good in-ring action and a beautiful story.

3 The Undertaker

Undertaker v Batista WrestleMania 23 Cropped

It is not surprising that The Undertaker was one of the men to beat Batista in a singles PPV match, as he was undoubtedly one of his biggest rivals. Undertaker and Batista faced each other five times in singles PPV action, two wins for Batista, one draw and two wins for the Undertaker.

Batista's first loss to 'Taker was at WrestleMania 23, where 'Taker ended Batista's world title reign after an all-time classic. In their following three encounters, Batista went undefeated. Finally, Undertaker's second victory over Batista was a couple of years later, at Tables, Ladders and Chairs 2009, in a brutal Chairs match.

2 John Cena

John Cena Vs. Batista I Quit

Batista and John Cena had a great history together. They met for the first time at SummerSlam 2008, an amazing match that Batista won. It was a long time without their paths crossing again on PPV, but in 2010 they had four consecutive matches. The first of those matches was at Elimination Chamber 2010, when Vince McMahon booked a match between Batista and John Cena right after the latter had won the WWE Heavyweight Title in an Elimination Chamber match. Obviously, Batista squashed Cena and became the new champion.

However, John Cena did not give up and at WrestleMania 26 defeated Batista to regain the WWE Heavyweight Title. Batista later got a rematch at Extreme Rules 2010, but John Cena was the last man standing. The last match was an I Quit match at Over The Limit 2010, and Cena was the winner again.

1 Edge

Edge v Batista Night of Champions 2008 Cropped

Edge is definitely Batista's worst nightmare, as they had four singles PPV matches, and, believe it or not, Edge won them all. Batista came to challenge World Heavyweight Champion Edge, but no matter how hard The Animal tried, in the end The Rated R Superstar always prevailed.

Unfortunately, the matches were not five-star classics, but at least at Night Of Champions 2008 and One Night Stand 2007 the matches were good. Batista was a dominant wrestler throughout his career, but he was dominated by Edge.
