With Edge getting kicked out of the group, Damian Priest is now the longest-tenured member of the WWE Judgment Day stable.

Priest formed an alliance with Edge at WrestleMania 38 weekend after helping The Rated-R Superstar defeat AJ Styles in their singles match at The Showcase of Immortals. At the WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view one month later, Edge received some assistance from Rhea Ripley in defeating The Phenomenal One. The former Raw Women's Champion was welcomed into the group one day later.

But in a massive surprise, Edge was removed from the group moments after Judgment Day welcomed Finn Balor into the alliance during this week's episode of WWE Raw. The former Universal Champion, Priest and Ripley all attacked the WWE Hall of Famer, thus turning Edge back into a babyface.

The "Judgment Day" name will sound familiar to many wrestling fans, as WWE ran a pay-per-view with the same name in 1998 and every year from 2000 to 2009. During an interview with TV Insider, Priest detailed some of the other names that were pitched for the relatively new stable.

"We had a few ideas," Priest explained. "Edge refers to many of them in his promos because we liked all the names. The Judgement seemed like what we are doing, which is judging. Grand Jury was one of them. The Saints of Fate; but ultimately, The Judgement Day felt right. It also used to be a pay-per-view, so it’s a throwback as well. We liked it a lot. I’m glad it worked out."

The Bloodline (Roman Reigns, The Usos and Paul Heyman) has dominated the SmackDown landscape for over a year now. It only made sense for WWE to introduce a new heel faction that could dominate the same way over on Raw, and perhaps it's only a matter of time until Ripley, Balor and Priest take over.

WWE Announced A Storyline Injury For Edge

On Wednesday, WWE announced that The Ultimate Opportunist "suffered a non-displaced orbital floor fracture" during the attack from Judgment Day on this week's edition of Raw. The company didn't announce if he'll miss any action.

Edge's run as a heel and leader of The Judgment Day was surprisingly short. That said, there are too many heels and not enough babyfaces on the Raw roster. With Cody Rhodes sidelined indefinitely as he recovers from a torn pec, it was a smart call to make the longtime fan favorite in Edge a face again.
