David Benoit recently went into detail about life after the death of his father and the conspiracy theories that have stemmed from the tragic event.
There are certain events in pro wrestling history that are considered turning points in the industry. Some of them are good, such as Hulk Hogan's heel turn at Bash at the Beach, but others are bad and even downright dark. One of the darkest days in wrestling was when Chris Benoit committed suicide, first killing his wife and young son before taking his own life.
Benoit left behind an older son from a previous relationship, David. Although David hasn't managed to become a wrestler to the highest level like his father, he has kept ties to some of his friends in the business. David is occasionally backstage at WWE shows when the company is in his neck of the woods. However, he has never really spoken out about that day, until now.

Benoit sat down with Chris Van Vliet and was extremely candid about his father's death and the months that followed. Benoit gave those who follow the wrestling business an insight into what might have happened unlike one they will have heard before. "The news was f*cking non-stop. It was either about steroids, steroids, steroids, or that Nancy Grace joke," Benoit explained, adding that he wasn't even able to finish high school until later in his life.
Benoit naturally struggled to come to terms with how his father and younger brother had died, admitting that it took him seven months until he could really get his head around it. "I punched a cop. I punched him right in the chest. I thought it was a joke, I really did," Benoit revealed when discussing hearing the news for the first time. He also addressed the conspiracy theories surrounding that day, labeling all of them "a joke".
Almost thirteen years on from that tragic day for the wrestling business, but more than anyone the close friends and family of the Benoits, even fans still can't get their heads around what happened. We can't even begin to understand how difficult it must still be for David to this day. You can watch David's entire video above which includes him discussing his belief that CTE was to blame for what happened that day.
