Although it was never officially confirmed, the assumption that Bo Dallas was the wrestler under the Uncle Howdy mask is largely accepted to be true at this point. That the creepy character helping out Bray Wyatt from the shadows would eventually remove their mask, revealing themselves to be Dallas, Wyatt's real-life brother. If that or something similar was the plan, then naturally those plans were derailed when Wyatt suddenly passed away over the summer.

Bo Dallas Signed To WWE

Despite the Howdy character disappearing and Dallas not appearing in WWE since his brother's passing, the former NXT Champion is still under contract. That's according to a new report from PWInsider (subscription required) via Cultaholic. Dallas was released by WWE in 2021 and rumored to have decided he was done with wrestling. However, he seemingly re-signed with the company at some point in 2022 to work with his brother.

There have been suggestions before now that Dallas might return to WWE TV, either as the character he left behind when released or as Howdy to carry on his brother's name. Neither has happened thus far, but Dallas has not been let go by WWE. Dallas may still be struggling with the loss of his brother and even though he might want to start wrestling again, he needs more time to process what has happened.

WWE Taking Care Of Wyatt's Family

Considering what WWE has already done for Wyatt's family, it seems feasible the company is willing to give Dallas all the time he needs, and that he can return whenever he likes, as Howdy or otherwise. It was reported shortly after Wyatt's passing that money from his merch sales would be going directly to his family. WWE appears to have gone a step further than that, putting the late Wyatt on one of its legends contracts so that merch money will continue to go to Wyatt's fiancee and children.

Whatever's going on with Dallas right now, I hope he returns to a WWE ring one day if that's what he wants to do. WWE keeping him signed certainly suggests they have plans for him, and that he wants to be a part of those plans. Having someone under contract but waiting for the right time to use them isn't something WWE is unwilling to do either. Authors of Pain finally re-debuted last week, seemingly after waiting in the wings for the perfect opportunity for months.
