WWE is not above burying talents in the booking when they feel it is warranted or even when just wanting to find entertainment from it. Dozens of male wrestlers have been buried in WWE, but the same can be applied to female performers. Burials can come in various ways from looking bad in matches or storylines, to just being embarrassed in segments.RELATED: 10 Most Important Women's Matches In HistoryCertain instances showed WWE clearly burying the talents by putting them in a situation that had no chance of working. Some of the female wrestlers were able to rebound and get over afterwards. However, others couldn’t survive the horrible booking and saw their careers impacted. WWE’s creative team negatively impacted the following women with moments that buried them.
8 Bayley's Feud With Alexa Bliss
WWE pushing Alexa Bliss as the top heel of the Raw women’s division led to getting the better of Bayley. The feud for the Raw Women’s Championship featured Bayley looking terrible in both the segments leading up to the match and in their biggest match.

Bayley getting mocked in the “This is your life” segment was a huge blow to her momentum. Bliss beating Bayley in a kendo stick on a pole match told a one-sided story of Alexa looking like a star. Bayley looked horrible taking such a beating and didn’t rebound to a top spot until turning heel years later.
7 Eva Marie's Final Matches Vs Doudrop
WWE bringing back Eva Marie for a second stint in the company once again wasted everyone’s time. Eva received another heel push on the Raw brand with minimal success coming from it. Doudrop debuted as Marie’s muscle, but the two ended up on each other’s bad side.
The final few appearances of Eva saw her completely buried when getting squashed multiple times by Doudrop. It became clear that WWE was giving up on Marie again and proved to be true when she was released shortly after on the next wave of cuts.
6 Ivory's Title Reign Getting Squashed By Chyna
Most long-time wrestling fans view WrestleMania 17 as the greatest show in WWE history, but there was one big disappointment. Chyna winning the Women’s Championship from Ivory was a one-sided squash designed to give the former a big moment.
Reports indicated that Chyna was unhappy about working with the women again after facing male wrestlers and refused to sell. Ivory’s respected Women’s Championship reign as a member of the Right to Censor ended with a brutal. Chyna made Ivory look like a joke, and she never rebounded to get back to that spot.
5 Sable Losing Title Before Leaving
The history of wrestlers leaving WWE can see things either ending with respectful booking or made to look foolish. Sable was the biggest female star in the company for quite some time in the Attitude Era and won the Women’s Championship during her heel push.
WWE and Sable started to sour on each other shortly before her departure. The booking showed that when she lost the title in a strange evening gown match. Sable won in her title defense against Debra by stripping her opponent. Former WWE Commissioner Shawn Michael awarded Debra the belt after her defeat for looking “better” than Sable. That was the end of Sable’s run as she was out of the company afterwards.
4 Bianca Belair Squashed As Champ
The finish to the SummerSlam 2021 match between Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair instantly became one of the most polarizing in recent WWE memory. Lynch coming back from her long absence after getting pregnant and giving birth saw her replacing Sasha Banks in a Smackdown Women’s Championship match.

Belair was having a great title reign, but the way in which she lost was a huge momentum killer. Becky squashed Bianca within seconds to become the new champ. WWE had Belair lose multiple title rematches before falling out of the title picture. There is hope for Bianca eventually getting her win back to take back the Smackdown Women’s Championship, but time will tell if it erases the burial of her first reign.
3 Toni Storm Getting Pied By Charlotte
Another relatively recent controversial moment in the women’s division featured Toni Storm’s one relevant feud before getting released. Charlotte Flair defended the Smackdown Women’s Championship against Storm after feuding for a few weeks.
Storm getting pied by Flair in one of her first major promos made her look terrible. The following week did Storm get revenge with her own pie moment, but she lost the big match. Storm disliked her time in WWE enough to request her release during a house show tour.
2 Mickie James' Piggy James Storyline
WWE delivered one of their most insulting and offensive storylines when Michelle McCool started bullying Mickie James. The segments featured McCool and her tag partner Layla insulting the weight of James and taking it over the line on more than one occasion.
A horrible segment featured Michelle, Layla and Beth Phoenix shoving a pig-shaped cake in the face of James. Rumors circulated that John Cena and Mickie breaking up led to WWE wanting to bury her. Regardless of the reason, WWE is still criticized for the tacky writing and the humiliation towards James for no fitting reason.
1 Lita's Farewell Segment
The recent return of Lita having a big match against Becky Lynch and being treated as a legend helped make up for the horrible ending to her first run in the company. Lita was struggling mentally after the heel run with Edge weighed on her health and made life miserable during that chapter of her WWE career.
The end of her contract in 2006 led to Lita telling WWE that she was going to let it expire and leave the ring. WWE apparently didn’t take that well based on how they chose to write her off. Lita lost a Women’s Championship match to Mickie James, but the aftermath was what crossed the line. Cryme Tyme stealing the belongings of Lita and showing embarrassing items was designed to bury her on the way out.
