Every wrestler hopes to have a career full of strong storylines that always connected and provided logical success. Unfortunately, that almost never happens since promotions will often miss the mark coming up with perfect ideas for performers consistently. Torrie Wilson is one of the wrestlers to have a respected career with imperfection following her on a few occasions.

Fans may scratch their heads when looking back at various aspects of Wilson’s time in WCW and WWE. The stories range from angles that didn’t make any logical sense to ideas that didn’t spotlight her in the way the companies hoped. Find out what went wrong with some of the things about Torrie’s career that made no sense.

10 Debuting As "Samantha" In WCW

Torrie Wilson's WCW debut

WCW introduced Torrie Wilson in a major storyline involving the New World Order. Torrie talked David Flair into betraying his father Ric Flair during Ric’s match against Hulk Hogan for the WCW Championship.

The manipulation from Wilson was inspired by her friendship with Kevin Nash as the storyline played out. WCW foolishly decided on the one-name of Samantha in her first month. The change using her real name luckily saved it as the no-last name concept would have missed the mark. "Torrie Wilson" sounds a lot more marketable and recognizable.

9 Relationship With Jimmy Wang Yang

Jimmy Wang Yang and Torrie Wilson

WWE often put little thought into booking character changes involving multiple wrestlers if it gave them something to do. Jimmy Wang Yang was paired with Torrie Wilson when each wrestler lacked roles on television at the time.

Wilson randomly started managing Jimmy and dressing in cowgirl outfits to play into his cowboy gimmick at the time. WWE didn’t care to provide any depth to the partnership and ended it after a few weeks.

8 Choosing Horace Hogan Over Billy Kidman

Torrie Wilson and Billy Kidman

The real-life relationship between Torrie Wilson and Billy Kidman started in WCW when the two worked together in the Filthy Animals faction. WCW kept them together for quite some time beyond the faction as Kidman feuded with Hulk Hogan during the New Blood angle.

The booking for this feud was all over the place and ended in the worst way possible. Wilson betrayed Kidman in the final match against Hogan by costing him the match due to her bond with Hulk’s nephew Horace Hogan growing. That layer ended up going nowhere as Horace and Torrie did nothing of note together moving forward.

7 Reunion With Billy Kidman In WWE

WWE tried to reunite Torrie Wilson and Billy Kidman on-screen when the two joined the company while still dating. The short rivalry of Kidman and Wilson vs John Cena and Dawn Marie gave them some mixed tag matches together.

Unfortunately, there was nothing more to it as WWE separated the couple without a valid explanation. Kidman just didn’t have the support of WWE management beyond the Cruiserweight Division and Torrie was better off on her own.

6 Feud With Candice Michelle

One of the rare times Torrie Wilson played a heel in WWE featured her teaming up with Victoria and Candice Michelle in the faction known as Vince’s Angels. The run ended when Candice and Victoria turned on Torrie to place her back into the natural face role.

Wilson and Michelle feuded for the next few months with such a personal start of betrayal. However, the feud turned into jokes with eye candy content like wet and wild or schoolgirl-themed matches. WWE had Torrie and Candice joking together in some of their match spots despite the deeper start to the angle.

5 Teaming With Sable

The return of Sable to WWE in 2003 provided a controversial moment for the company. Sable was back for the first time since the various lawsuits filed and was placed in a program with Torrie Wilson due to Torrie having a Playboy Magazine cover spread.

The two women feuded for months on the SmackDown brand. WWE decided to pair them together in 2004 when Playboy wanted Torrie and Sable to shoot together. The opportunity inspired WWE to team them up with Sable turning face, but it came off poorly due to how recently they were enemies. Sable turned heel after the tag run to continue the rivalry with Wilson.

4 Language Barrier With Tajiri

WWE found success with Torrie Wilson and Tajiri dating during the Invasion storyline. The segments provided entertainment, but the elephant in the room was that they did not speak the same language despite being an item.

Tajiri did not speak any English on-screen and Wilson did not know how to speak Japanese either. The odd couple romance worked against all odds as fans enjoyed both characters making up for the lack of logic put into the idea. Being able to communicate obviously means a lot in maintaining a relationship, but not when it comes to Torrie and Tajiri.

3 Staying With David Flair After NWO Ended

David Flair’s start in WCW saw him getting exposed when not ready for a big role. The time in the New World Order with Torrie Wilson started with Torrie conning him into helping Hulk Hogan keep the title away from Ric.

However, WCW changed the story when the nWo ended and Wilson was still at his side. Ric and David got on the same page as heels with Torrie sticking with him. The original storyline was thrown out of the window until Wilson left David for Billy Kidman months later.

2 Ditching The Alliance For WWE With Vince In Charge

Torrie Wilson and Vince McMahon

Torrie Wilson made a huge impact in her WWE debut during the Invasion storyline. Vince McMahon was still playing an evil heel authority figure as Wilson appeared as an attractive woman hoping to seduce him into getting a WWE contract.

The angle played out with Linda McMahon catching Vince as a setup by Torrie and Shane McMahon representing WCW. WWE pretended that didn’t exist a few months later when Wilson officially left The Alliance to join WWE’s roster with Tajiri even though she set up her new boss not that long ago.

1 Replacing Trish Stratus As Carlito's Love Interest

Torrie Wilson and Carlito

WWE paired Trish Stratus and Carlito together in a romantic storyline to help add some momentum to a struggling Carlito in 2006. Unfortunately, the timing would see Stratus planning to retire just a few weeks into the angle starting.

Carlito would be distanced from Trish as she retired in a feud with Lita. WWE went the lazy route of replacing Stratus with Torrie Wilson by having the same exact storyline as Carlito’s new love interest. The chemistry was not there, but a weak start would have doomed the concept either way.
